Project Brief: Californian is a publication that covers news, opinion, reviews, as well as special topics. The task was to design an editorial feature and illustrations for “The Top 10 Ways to Boost Creativity”. The illustrations and design choices needed to capture a playful spirit while maintaining the clean look of the publication. When designing for this feature, I felt myself inspired by the initial stages of creativity, the sketches and doodles we might draw up to get our initial thoughts down.

For the hero image, I chose a playful doodle-like typeface to match my intended visual language. To enhance readability, I went in and manually altered some of the letters. I also added star doodles onto the type and hand-wrote the subhead.
1, Move Your Body. The illustrations utilize the entire width of the screen.
2, Meditate. The illustrations alternate between utilizing the full width of the screen and being smaller. The use of color in each illustration is intentional to the meaning,
